Mitigating Risk in Class C Pipe Bursting Projects

Speaker: Alan Goodman, Strategic Accounts Sales Manager, HammerHead Trenchless

This presentation demonstrates the economy, versatility and efficacy of the pipe bursting method, especially when facing multiple job-site complications. The highlighted case study involved upsizing 900 LF of 4” cast iron pipe with 6” HDPE pipe. Complications included a tightly confined workspace on the surface with little room to fuse up lengths of pipe, as well as saturated clay ground conditions that made it difficult to place and secure the 125-ton hydraulic pulling machine. Also, multiple utilities crowded the easement underground, not only lying in close proximity to the pipe, but frequently crossing over it in the middle of the run.

11 – 11:25 a.m.
